Peggy's Cove Area Festival of the Arts 2019

The Peggy’s Cove Area Festival of the Arts combines breathtaking scenery with a wealth of local talent, and is a must for art lovers and visitors to our area. With a variety of events taking place between July 3rd and 15th, you’ll find something to delight you in this exceptional place that inspires so many artists.

Our coastal arts festival will be highlighted by three main events in 2019, including our Opening Night Gala, Studio Tour, and plein air painting experience, Paint Peggy's Cove.

The Studio Tour begins Friday July 5th and runs until Sunday July 7th.  This popular event celebrates art and artists in the St. Margaret’s Bay area with 39 locations showcasing 60 artists. Between 10 a.m. and 5 p.m., studios, group showings, and galleries will be open to welcome visitors and showcase the works of many diverse, talented artists. Meet local artists and discover your next exceptional art purchase as you chart your own self-guided tour through quaint communities, coves and harbours.

Throughout the weekend, visitors are invited to enter their names in a draw for an art gift certificate worth $500. Entries are available in all tour locations.

Studio Tour Guide Books are available at all visitor information centers and kiosks, or for download on our website. The event will take place on Friday 5th, Saturday 6th, and Sunday 7th of July.

Paint Peggy’s Cove is a three-day event that highlights the beauty and heritage of the shorelines, fishing village, and surrounding area. Artists bring brushes, oils, watercolours, pastels and pencils to create new works inspired by this unique Nova Scotian community by setting up on the rocks, wharves, and park areas. Once complete, each day’s works—as well as studio pieces by the same artists—will be displayed and available for sale in a large Mongolian yurt located a short walk from the Peggy's Cove lighthouse.. There will also be demonstrations by local artisans and a children’s art tent offering a variety of free creative activities.

This three day event takes place on Saturday 13th, Sunday 14th and Monday 15th of July, between 10 a.m. and 5 p.m. For more information, visit our website at

The Festival will open on July 3rd with a gala reception at Shining Waters Marina featuring live musical entertainment, refreshments, canapés,"Takeaway" artwork displays, and a special project exhibit called "Pieces of Eight Art Treasure".
