Originally the Home of Senator William Duff and family, Alicion Bed & Breakfast is a beautiful, historic estate circa 1911, ideally situated in Lunenburg in the scenic South Shore region of Nova Scotia. Combining an eco-friendly approach with spacious comfort and historic charm, Alicion Bed & Breakfast honours and commits to the preservation of a gracious estate, while embracing green products and practices. We have created a unique look inspired by the beauty of our natural surroundings, and strive to provide an environmentally-friendly experience without compromising comfort.
Located on a quiet corner, we are a 10-minute stroll to Old Town Lunenburg and its many attractions. Lunenburg remains one of the few communities in North America where traditional shipbuilding skills, such as those that built the famous Bluenose, symbol of Canada's sailing supremacy in the 1920s and 1930s, can be found. Visit the Fisheries Museum of the Atlantic and see the dozens of exhibit galleries, activities, daily talks and hands-on demonstrations, and view the famous Bluenose II in dry dock.
Explore the art galleries and shops where you can see displayed work by fine artisans capturing the tradition of their maritime heritage in their work, from handcarved duck decoys, to ship models, to pottery and beautiful paintings. A Lunenburg whale watching tour affords a unique glimpse of the rugged coastline, colourful lighthouses and historic harbour of Lunenburg, and a host of whale species and other marine life.
Travel to the nearby town of Mahone Bay and take in the beautiful harbour graced by the famous three churches, the most photographed in Canada.
Our accommodations include four spacious, well-appointed rooms (King, Queen, Twin beds): large ensuite 4-piece bath (two with hydrotherapy tub). Relax on the graceful veranda or take in the view of the beautiful gardens. We supply high-quality eco-friendly bath products, and linens and bedding are natural and organic. We are a non-smoking accommodation. We are a proud member of the Nova Scotia Bed and Breakfast Association and the Tourism Industry Association of Nova Scotia.
