Smugglers Cove Provincial Park is a picturesque day-use park in Meteghan along the Yarmouth & Acadian Shores. Overlooking a small cove and sea cave once linked to local rum runners, the park offers a fascinating blend of coastal scenery and history. Follow a short path to viewing platforms for panoramic views of the rugged coastline and cove below, which fills with ocean water at high tide.
Interpretive panels share stories of the area’s smuggling past and explain why this sheltered inlet became associated with rum-running activity in the early 1900s. With picnic tables set in a peaceful open field overlooking the coast, it’s an ideal place to relax, take in the scenery, and discover one of Nova Scotia’s most intriguing historic coastal sites.
Please note: there is no access to the water from the park.
