Just wanted to let people know about my favourite, little-visited, corner of the province, near St. Peter's. The beach at Point Michaud is long, the sand is dark, the air is cool any day of summer, and the surf pounds relentlessly over the eons. Sometimes it is so foggy that you can walk and walk with the ocean beside you but not be able to see even your feet. It is peaceful, beautiful, but not overly populated. If I could, I think I'd stay there for a week.
Point Michaud is now a Provincial Park, and is located in the southeast part of Cape Breton Island. This map might help a little: http://www.mapquest.com/#b1964a0f82ce5d2909b253c0
