Description

Barber’s Cello Concerto is a fierce, theatrical showpiece, and one of the most demanding cello concertos ever written. Hear Symphony Nova Scotia’s perform this spectacular concerto with Canada’s own Stéphane Tetreault, a 24-year-old “name to watch” with “pure, lyrical, unadulterated playing of the highest order” (Gramophone). Then, we perform Barber’s heart-wrenching Adagio for Strings, famed the world over from film scores, remixes, and solemn state funerals. And finally, hear Copland’s rich, radiant Appalachian Spring, “one of the most inspiring and symbolic works of the century” (NPR).
