Give the Gift of Nova Scotia

From the parades to the lights on the trees, it's beginning to look a lot like Christmas around the province. And that means finding gifts to go under your Nova Scotian tree. Our favourite way to shop for our loved ones is to shop local and find things that are uniquely Nova Scotian to stuff in their stockings.

The list of places you can shop local around the province is long, which is why we have just a few gift ideas you can find from around Nova Scotia this season.

Deck the Halls

If you haven't picked out a tree yet or you're looking for boughs to deck the halls, a Nova Scotian balsam fir is the way to go. Nova Scotian Christmas Trees have had the place of honour in homes for generations (we export 1.3 million trees every year!)

And you can decorate your tree with beautiful crystal from Nova Scotian Crystal that will catch the lights from your tree perfectly.

For the foodie

For the person on your list who can't wait to start preparing the big meal, you can get them the tools to feel like a professional chef thanks to Pictou's Grohmann Knives.

They'll chop the veggies and carve the turkey like a pro when they have knives like these! Even Nova Scotian chefs agree on a gift like this one.

Holiday eats

Its lobster season in Southwest Nova, so why not celebrate the season with an iconic Nova Scotian holiday feast of lobster.

Christmas Eve is the perfect time to prepare a feed of Nova Scotian lobster and seafood for your friends and family. Even if you're far away from home this Christmas, you can have your lobster sent to your door.

On Christmas Day, after you've had your fill of the big meal, bring out a traditional Nova Scotia rum cake for desert from Rum Runners in Halifax.

This delicious taste of Nova Scotia can also be sent to your family and friends who are missing Nova Scotia this year.

Ring in the holidays in style

As you ring in the new year, toast your friends and family with one of Nova Scotia's amazing sparkling wines.

If you're not sure which wine to buy as a gift, here are recommendations from a few of our winemakers:

And for your eggnog or other holiday cheers, a taste of Nova Scotian rum from Ironworks Distillery in Lunenburg is the perfect treat.

Their berry liqueurs, apple brandy and pear eau de vie are all made from Nova Scotian fruit and help add a little spirit to the season.

You really can give the gift of Nova Scotia when you give someone a weekend getaway for Christmas. Plan the perfect winter weekend with one of our packages.

The memories you make while exploring the province on your holiday will be the gift that keeps on giving.

Another gift of Nova Scotia is the Nova Scotia Museum family pass. This passport to Nova Scotia's heritage lets you explore all 27 museums around the province.
