Visitors will be encouraged to experience the flavours of established operators and award winning wineries and meet local members whose passion is a fundamental part of their success.

Nova Scotia is quite possibly one of the first areas to cultivate grapes in North America. Our wineries have garnered international acclaim for their efforts and passion. L’Acadie Vineyards is Nova Scotia’s newest addition to the growing wine region and is also the province’s first organic winery. L’Acadie Vineyards is focussed on producing world-class traditional method sparkling wines. 

Catch! The Nova Scotia Seafood Festival is a new festival showcasing Nova Scotia seafood products June 26-28 

Cape Breton’s Glenora Distillery produces the only single malt whisky in Canada ~ the Glen Breton.

The Lakes Golf Club in Ben Eoin will be a world-class, five-star, Graham Cooked designed golf course scheduled to open Spring 2009. It is being constructed on 3 plateaus where the maximum elevation of 150-feet above sea level will provide beautiful vistas of the rolling hills and waters of the Bras d’Or Lakes. 

Louisbourg Resort Golf & Spa, a $300 million development on Cape Breton Island, has already won two of the world’s most prestigious international awards - and is yet to be completed! The resort has been awarded the prestigious titles ‘Best Golf Development Canada’ and ‘Best Golf Development Americas’ in the world renowned International Property Awards 2008, in association with CNBC. The development includes two golf courses designed by Nick Faldo, captain of the 2008 European Ryder Cup Team and 6- time Major Champion. The Championship course (The Fortress) is due for opening in 2010. On site amenities will include European Spa, family recreation centre, various restaurants and a conference centre.

The Joggins Fossil Cliffs along Nova Scotia's Bay of Fundy coastline have been designated a UNESCO World Natural Heritage Site. The cliffs are renowned for its extensive deposits of 300-million-year-old fossils. A new interpretive centre, The Joggins Fossil Centre, opened to the public in May 2008. This state-ofthe-art facility houses interpretive exhibits for visitors and acts as a departure point for guided tours of the Fossil Cliffs.

The Eatonville day-use area of Cape Chignecto Provincial Park will officially open to the public in Spring 2009. Located in Eatonville Harbour, the day-use park will provide visitors with accessible walking trails suitable for everyone including families and the physically challenged.

Artisans at Work...Come explore what makes Atlantic Canada unique by experiencing Nova Scotia’s finest artisan studios. Newest additions to the Atlantic ÉCONOMUSÉE Network include the Bay Hammock Company near Peggy’s Cove and the Harbour Quilt Company in Antigonish.  

Go tidal bore rafting! Join in an unforgettable, exhilarating, action packed two or four hour tidal bore and up-river white water rafting experience in versatile Zodiacs as you ride the Tidal Bore and the Roller Coaster Rapids of the Shubenacadie River. 

Liven up your authentic Nova Scotia experience by participating in a Parks Canada special enhanced program! Discover “A Taste of History - 18th Century Chocolate” or a wine pairing candlelight period dinner at Fortress Louisbourg. Or spend a day in the Victorian Army for the ultimate in historical experiences at the Halifax Citadel National Historic Site. This highly interactive program allows visitors to dress in period uniform, to experience 19th century military drill, discipline and accommodation and even get a taste of Victorian-era food. The Seaport Farmers Market will be an ecological and cultural showpiece on the Halifax Waterfront when it opens June 2009. The new, expanded, multi-day market will allow visitors to see artisans creating many of their wares and provide an unique shopping experience.

Don't Miss Events2009 will mark the 100th Anniversary of the first powered flight in Canada. Celebrations will take place across the province all year long with the highlight being the Silver Dart Centennial Aviation Week taking place June 14 - 20 in Baddeck.

Ships from around the world will join many of Canada’s finest sailing vessels to form the international gathering of world-class Tall Ships in Halifax during Tall Ships Nova Scotia Festival 2009, July 16-20, named the Top Event in Canada for 2009 by the American Bus Association!  

Lobsterpalooza, is a 2009 ABA Top 100 Event where you can enjoy 300 km of seafood and seafaring traditions along the Cabot Trail, presented during a month of springtime feasts and fun - May 24 to June 30. 

The Royal Nova Scotia International Tattoo takes place in Halifax annually July 1-8 and is a fast moving, exciting, fun-filled spectacular event featuring international military and civilian performers.  

ICF World Senior Canoe Championships are being held in Dartmouth August 12-16. This prestigious event will bring 1,300 participants from more than 90 countries to the shore of Lake Banook. 

St. Margaret’s Bay will host the 2009 Laser World Championships. These oneperson sail boat races are expected to be the largest sailing event in Canada’s history. 

DRUM! One of Nova Scotia’s finest musical productions, featuring the four founding cultures - Aboriginal, Black, Celtic and Acadian. It’s a heart pumping spectacle of music, dance, rhythm and song. Halifax dates Sept. 18 - Oct.10.  

Cape Breton hosts the Celtic Colours International Festival, October 9-17. Sounds of fiddles, pipes and voices in song echo across the island in over 50 venues!
