Trestle Trail

Liverpool, South Shore

The Trestle Trail is a former section of rail line which meanders along the Mersey River and then across the Trestle Bridge in the picturesque town of Liverpool. This is a beautiful community walking trail with a wide, well packed surface. Walkers, cyclists and wheelchair users can read about the rail and river history of Liverpool and the surrounding area on the interpretive panel. The wooded section of the trail will continue to be open to all users, however, *please note* that the bridge crossing the Mersey River is closed until further notice.
Trail users are encouraged to complete the extended loop of Liverpool Harbour by continuing left along Main Street after crossing the Trestle Bridge. Follow Main Street to Henry Hensey Drive and turn left along the waterfront. Take your time to wander around the gardens in Privateer Park or rest for a moment on one of the benches overlooking the Mersey River. When you reach the Blue Bridge, past the Liverpool Visitor Information Centre, turn left on Bristol Avenue and follow the route back to the trailhead.
