The Last Port Motel offers quiet and comfortable accommodations situated in Canso, next to Chedabucto Bay along the beautiful Eastern Shore. Our dining room menu features local favourites, hearty home-made soups, and a wide variety of North American and International cuisine. The Eastern Shore region boasts inlets, rocky outcrops, islands, salt marshes and almost-endless beaches, creating prime conditions for sea kayaking and other coastal activities such as swimming, beachcombing, hiking, cycling, and bird watching. In Canso, Visit Whitman House Museum which was built in 1885 and illustrates the history of the Town of Canso and eastern Guysborough County, with exhibits from Canso Harbour. Take a short boat from Canso to Canso Islands National Historic Site of Canada on Grassy Island which commemorates the role of the fishery in early 18th-century international trade. A thriving community of New England fishermen and merchants, it became a casualty of Anglo-French rivalry for North America. The site features the fortifications’ ruins and the remains of the colonial New England fishing station. Go for a walk on the Gully Trail in Canso or pack a picnic lunch and enjoy one of the warm sandy beaches at Tor Bay Provincial Beach Park or Black Duck Cove Park and Beach.
Our accommodations include 14 guest units (Single, Double; 2 housekeeping units); with a 4-piece bath, cable television, radio, and wireless Internet access. Cots are available. Guest features include a licensed, air-conditioned dining room which is open from 8:00 am to 8:00 pm; breakfast is served the whole day. All of our units are non-smoking. Pets are welcome.
