DescriptionPaddle through the myriad islands and intriguing coastlines of Mahone Bay and St. Margaret’s Bay, including some exciting traverses between beautiful Nova Scotian headlands, with stops at dreamy, deserted islands perfect for summer exploration. You will explore many miles of coastline, and might wonder how this island-peppered stretch of Nova Scotia’s South Shore has remained so untouched. Fish shacks decorate parts of the shore, and the maze of islands offshore is so much fun to navigate that in places you can play hide and seek among them. Seals, whales, and many species of birds and fish call the area home. You will stop for lunch or the night on unique islands, each with its own attractions. One is tiny with pebble beaches and little lagoons, one is huge with a peak high enough to reward you with fabulous views, and the others are home to colonies of seabirds whose nesting is a spring highlight, and where summer brings an abundance of wildflowers and wonderful beachcombing. The sailing ketch “Sea Wench” may attend your campsite to serve dinner at anchor, and can serve as a safety boat for the open water crossings. It is also available to carry the trappings necessary for comfortable camping and elaborate dinners, without the need to cram everything into and onto your kayak! This adventure will reward your sense of simple joy with cozy beachfront campsites, starry skies, and intimate evenings in wild and fantastic settings! Guided Cost: $1495 (per person, includes 5 days, 4 nights camping, all meals from lunch on day 1 to lunch on day 5, seakayaking equipment, tent and sleeping pad, guiding and cooking, support boat).
