Journey into the Night Sky
Kejimkujik National Park and National Historic Site
3005 Main Parkway, off Route 8
Discover one of North America’s darkest skies at Kejimkujik, a Royal Astronomical Society of Canada Dark Sky Preserve. In the heart of Kejimkujik’s wilderness, the night sky is free from artificial light sources. The natural night time activities of the forest take place uninhibited.
Kejimkujik offers a unique perspective of the night sky by providing visitors with the opportunity to discover both the astronomical science and the Mi’kmaw cultural perspectives of the night sky through the guidance of Parks Canada Interpreters and Royal Astronomical Society of Canada Astronomers.
Kejimkujik’s Dark Sky preserve allows visitors to experience the night sky the same way the Mi’kmaq experienced the skies of Kejimkujik thousands of years ago; in spectacular, natural darkness.
