Eskasoni Cultural Journeys
164 Tometary Drive, Eskasoni, B1L 1G3, Bras d'Or Lakes Scenic Drive
Pjila’si – Eskasoni First Nation welcomes you to take a cultural journey into the traditional life of the Mi’kmaq.
Your journey takes place on Goat Island, part of the Bras d'Or Lake UNESCO Biosphere Reserve, where you’ll be welcomed with a smudging ceremony. Following the ceremony, you’ll join our heritage interpreters around an open fire to make traditional luskinigan, which is simply delicious served warm with melted butter and homemade jam. After your treat, you'll try your hand at beadworking.
Savour a traditional feast with a cultural performance and a lesson in dance. Listen to the sounds of the music, drums and language, while learning about ancient traditions and ceremonies. Following your meal and performance, you will be led on a guided tour of Goat Island, where you’ll visit village reproductions, speak to heritage interpreters and learn the art of basketry from a renowned basket maker.
