THE PARRSBORO INTERNATIONAL PLEIN AIR FESTIVAL (PIPAF)  -  June 14, 15, 16, 17 - is attracting top-notch artists from across Canada and the USA. Their imaginations captured by the incredible beauty and power of the Bay of Fundy/Minas Basin region, these artists are travelling to Parrsboro, not just from the Maritime provinces, but also from Ontario, Quebec, Maine, New York State, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Virginia and Missouri.

These artists will compete for more than $6000 in prizes and the public will be able to see them at work in amazing locations from Economy Mountain to Advocate Harbour. Artists painting times and locations will be available to the public every day at information centres in Parrsboro.

Collectors’ Preview and Awards Night, Saturday June 16, 7-9 pm:  This is a highlight event where the collectors, gallery owners, the artists and the general public can preview the seventy canvases that will go up for public sale the following day. Admission fee to this event can be credited toward the purchase of a plein air work of art.

Quick Draw Contest:  Sunday June 17, 12 Noon to 5 pm:   This event, open to both the public and the registered plein air artists, is a crowd favourite. Competing for cash prizes of $300, $200, and $100, the participating artists have only two hours to finish a new plein air painting and in 2017, the results were extraordinary. The artists were positioned in locations all over downtown Parrsboro and people were fascinated to watch them work.. One resident’s comment: "A pure joy to see so many talented artists. Congratulations on a great event!" - J.T. Strutz
