DescriptionEvery two years, an exciting multi-cultural theatre event takes over Liverpool and encourages fun-seekers to reconnect with the thrill of live theatre. The Liverpool International Theatre Festival has been a popular southshore festival since 1992. Theatre troupes from around the globe compete on the Astor Theatre stage in an adjudicated event which results in a top prize. Many of these troupes have to fundraise and save for this opportunity and thus theatre-goers are treated to the best, most engaging performances that the players are able to give. . The LITF is a multi-faceted event that goes beyond the theatre. Each day of the festival, the public is invited to learn more about the craft by attending workshops held by theatre experts. This is an especially opportune time for people of all ages to have up-close and personal teaching with 'those in the know'. In addition to this, one of the most exciting and intriguing parts of the festival are the 'Coffee Critiques' in which the public is allowed to be a spectator during the adjudication process. You may or may not agree with what the judges have to say, but, you will leave with some understanding of what makes or breaks a stage production. And, there is no need to go home after the play! The evenings are abuzz with entertainment and opportunities to bump into some of the delegates from around the world at LITF hosted parties. Liverpool has lovely accommodation and restaurants that are primed and ready for festival visitors. The public can visit the festival a la carte by choosing which plays they want to see. A full-subscription pass offers the best deal, and gets you a ticket to all festival plays with your own reserved seat, guaranteed entrance to all Coffee Critiques and workshops, free admission to Festival Club and a ballot to vote on the People’s Choice Award.
