The Joggins Fossil Festival is a community event for the whole family that takes place at the Joggins Fossil Centre.

Friday July 6th 

10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

  • There is a local culture/ history/ business event. Local businesses, individuals and heritage associations will offer crafts, food for sale and information on what to see and do in the region.

Saturday July 7th 

9:30 a.m

  • Ceremonies in celebration of Joggins Fossil Cliffs 10th year Anniversary as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.  
  • Blessing of the Cliffs  

10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

  • A fossil/mineral/rock showcase event with geologists, paleontologists and other experts on hand with their treasures on view.
  • Geologists John Calder and Martha Hickman Hild will be available selling their latest publications.      
  • Curators from Joggins Fossil Institute and other museums will be on hand to answer questions and show off their "best" fossils.      

6:00 p.m. 

  • Public reception

7:00 p.m.

  • Dr. Felix Gradstein,Norwegian Centre for Paleontology, Oslo, Norway,  will present keynote address
