Gathering of the Clans and Canada Day

The Gathering of the Clans was established in 1951 in Pugwash.
Every July 1st there are sanctioned Highland Dance and Pipe & Drum competitions and exhibition Heavyweight Highland games while also celebrating Canada's birthday with a parade and fireworks.
It is a full and busy day for everyone with midway rides, artisan and food vendors and music entertainment in Eaton Park. Start the day with a pancake breakfast at the fire station between 8 and 10am. Walkers, floats. antique cars and tractors, horse drawn carriages, several pipe bands and fire trucks are in the 10am parade. The antique vehicles are on display all day in the park. National Historic site, Thinkers Lodge, is the scenic location for the pipe and drum competitions which wind up with a massed band that marches up Water Street. Arts, crafts, food and games are to be found on Water Street all day. Local musicians play Eaton Stage in the park all afternoon. The evening will end with our headliner artist (yet to be determined) at 8:30pm until the stupendous fireworks are set off at dusk from the other side of beautiful Pugwash Harbour.
