Skiing and snowshoeing are great ways to explore Keji’s winter wonderland. Kejimkujik offers groomed ski trails every weekend from January through March, when nature provides the snow. Four enclosed picnic shelters are stocked with firewood for use throughout the winter and along the XC ski trail system we have installed two yurts and a rustic cabin which are available for overnight accommodation. We also have a picnic shelter installed on the trail system which provides a sheltered resting space. Winter camping is also available in Jeremy's Bay Campground (with electrical hook-up) and at select backcountry sites.

There are five groomed trails to choose from:

Trail Name: Big Dam Road
Length: 6.4 km return

Trail Name: Big Dam Road (including Flowing Waters trail)
Length: 8 km return

Trail Name: Grafton Lake to Gold Mines Trail
Length: 7 km return

Trail Name: Grafton Lake to Eel Weir
Length: 16 km return

Trail Name: Grafton Lake to Peskowesk Brook
Length: 30 km return

There are also a number of ungroomed trails suitable for snowshoeing including Farmlands Trail, Mill Falls Trail, the Mersey River Trail and Grafton Woods trails.

The Visitor Centre is open weekends beginning in January, so stop in for maps and winter information. Call the Visitor Centre to check on current ski trail conditions and enjoy a cup of hot apple cider by the fire while you’re there!

Operated by Parks Canada.

Open January 1 – March 31: Five groomed ski trails open every weekend from January through March, when nature provides the snow.

I think of Pinterest as a wonderful tool for vision or dream boarding. For many of us, our dreams often include travel and adventure. And for those who are part of our Nova Scotia online community, those dreams include a Nova Scotia. And so begins our adventure with Pinterest.

The big camping experience last winter was spending a night in a yurt at kejimkujik national park. The only problem was finding an open weekend to book one of the two Yurts at the park. With time running out, we booked a single overnight in late March at the Eel Weir Yurt.
