Every year, to mark the beginning of the shopping season in Downtown Kentville, and to get in the holiday mood, hundreds of Kentville residents come out to take part in the annual Torchlight Parade and Skating Party. Residents line up at Town Hall to parade with Santa around Town to Centre Square where they wait with anticipation for the countdown to begin as the sounds of Christmas carols fill the night air. When it is time, the crowd chants in unison as Mayor Corkum counts down from ten. At the exact moment the crowd reaches one, the Town comes alive with festive holiday lights. Festivities continue at Centennial arena where residents enjoy a family skating party complete with holiday goodies and a visit with Santa. Come be part of the magic in downtown Kentville this holiday season.
