St. Ninian’s Cathedral located in Antigonish in the Northumberland Shore region was completed in 1874 and officially became a cathedral in 1886. This Provincial Heritage Property is a beautiful example of Romanesque architecture. The interior, which was carried out in 1899 was created by Quebec artist Ozias LeDuc who studied in Paris. The cathedral boasts hand-painted frescoes throughout, paintings dating back to the 1870s, along with fine woodwork. Guided tours by appointment; bus tours are welcome.
