Come calling at “Acacia Grove”, an elegant Georgian house in the picturesque Annapolis Valley. Here, horticulturalist Charles Prescott cultivated Nova Scotia’s apple industry from 1811 to 1859. Charles Prescott introduced a variety of apple to the province and helped start the Nova Scotia Fruit Growers Association. Discover how his great granddaughter, Mary Allison Prescott, rescued the derelict building in the 1930s to create a gracious home, now Prescott House Museum which is a National/Provincial historic site. See family portraits, antique furnishings and Miss Prescott’s collections of hand-stitched samplers and tribal Oriental carpets. Delight in the garden and lush countryside surrounding this special place. Prescott House Museum is located in Starr’s Point (Highway 101, Exit 11 to Port Williams, right on Starr’s Point Road off Highway 358) in the Fundy Shore and Annapolis Valley region. Bus tours are welcome.
