Nova Scotia has a wealth of provincial parks. Some are small picnic areas; others are large parks with a variety of facilities. The Barrachois Provincial Park is located in Barrachois on Cape Breton Island (located 12 km (8 mi) south of Highway 125). Formerly a farm, this picnic park is situated on a knoll under a canopy of trees providing a secluded and shaded picnicking experience. Nearby fishing opportunities are available on the Bras d’Or Lakes.
