Sugar Moon Farm is a working maple syrup farm, woodlot and restaurant. We produce quality food in a manner that supports local agriculture and community and respects land & water. To this end, we buy locally, use a composting system for our public washrooms and employ draft horse power on our farm.

Members of Slow Food Nova Scotia, Taste Nova Scotia and the Atlantic Economuseum Network “Artisans at Work”, Sugar Moon Farm has received regional and provincial tourism awards and national recognition. In 2009 Sugar Moon Farm was selected as one of the top 10 Sugar Shacks in Canada by Canadian Geographic Travel Magazine and in 2010 was selected by Fodor’s Travel Guide as one of the top destinations in Atlantic Canada.

Come and enjoy a locally-inspired all-day maple brunch in our log 56-seat restaurant and be sure to take in a free tour and tasting in our working sugar camp and shop for maple products in our log restaurant.. Hike, snowshoe or ski around the farm and find easy access to the Colchester County section of the new Cape to Cape Trail, 32 km of volunteer-built wilderness hiking trails accessible close to the farm; maps are available in the restaurant. Snowshoes are available for rent; sleigh rides can be reserved when conditions are right. Experience “Chef’s Night at Sugar Moon”, a gourmet maple dining experience offered monthly throughout the year featuring guest chefs, live music and wine tasting. Visit our website for more information.

Open weekends and most holidays year round (9 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.) and daily in July and August, we’re only 30 minutes north of Truro near the scenic Sunrise Trail in the Northumberland Shore region and located close to the town of Tatamagouche. We are an accessible property and welcome group and educational tours. Visa, Mastercard and Debit are accepted.
