The Northumberland Fisheries Museum in Pictou pays tribute to the fisheries industry of the Northumberland Shore region by preserving the rich sea heritage and culture along the Northumberland Strait. The Museum is currently housed on three sites: 1) The Lobster Stock Enhancement Research Facility (5 Caladh Avenue) which is an operating lobster hatchery and lab. Tours are available. 2) The Lighthouse Museum and Research Centre (7 Caladh Avenue), a replica 1905 lighthouse that showcases research material, artifacts, and photographs. A gift shop is also on this site. 3) A former Canadian Railway Station (71 Front Street), our main museum which contains artifacts depicting the heritage and culture of the fishing industry.
