There is no better way to experience the spectacular sites and atmosphere of Lunenburg's historic streetscapes and working waterfront than on foot. Lunenburg Town Walking Tours was created to offer visitors to our UNESCO World Heritage Site town – one of only two such urban sites in North America - an educational and entertaining directed walk through history. Owner/operator Shelah Allen, from the seventh-generation founding family Tanner, brings authenticity, accuracy, and levity, all woven into great stories, to your outing.

There are plenty of hills in Lunenburg but our routes are selected to minimize steep rises and are always at a gentle stroll pace, suitable for most folks with average mobility. We are happy to go, rain or shine, unless there is fear of drowning in the deluge!  Our schedule changes with the seasons, and our departure location changes with the tour, so please check www.lunenburgwalkingtours/tour-calendar for the latest. We operate year round, by appointment, with a full schedule in place June 1 to October 15.

Anchor Tours: These tours are offered on a regularly scheduled basis June 1 – Oct 15. $20 per person.

History Around Every Corner: A good measure of history on a stroll that focuses on architecture and significant buildings, with lots of stories included. Depending on time and availability, we visit St John’s Anglican Church, Zion Lutheran Church, and the Lunenburg Academy.

Lantern Tales: Still lots of historical perspective but with an ear to the superstitions and ghost stories that abound in the area. Throw in a little murder and mayhem plus visits to St John’s Church, Lunenburg Academy, and Hillcrest Cemetery and you may not be able to sleep tonight!

Specialty Tours: Tours available by arrangement

Working Waterfront Walk: Far from a sleepy cove, our harbour and its wharves are our window to the world. Stroll along a route that takes you into the stories that can’t be seen from the street on path that includes wharves, monuments, dories, schooners, and a distillery.

Customized Tours: Tell us your specific interests and needs and we’ll put together a tour to suit you. Ride-on guides and group tours available.
