Jump from saltwater at this sand and cobblestone beach to Freshwater Lake with just a few steps across the barachois in between.  Surf guards are on duty at the ocean beach during July and August.  Accessible change houses, washrooms, and hiking trail on site.  Other facilities include playground, tennis courts, soccer field and picnic area. Canteen concession is open daily in good weather during the summer. Dogs are not permitted in the supervised area of the beach.

Cape Breton Highlands is home to a variety of superb beaches. Choose between salt or freshwater, or even enjoy both at one location.  The Atlantic Ocean, Gulf of St. Lawrence and our tannin-rich brooks and lakes offer a wonderful variety for the water enthusiast.

Cape Breton Highlands National Park's operating season is from mid-May to mid-October, with full services in July and August. The Cabot Trail is open year-round. A park pass is required for use of all services and facilities in the national park, including beaches. Revenues are used to maintain and improve park services.
