Nova Scotia has a wealth of provincial parks. Some are small picnic areas, and others are large parks with a variety of facilities.  Heather Beach is a provincial beach park situated 8 km / 5 mi east of East Linden (off Route 6, 40 km (24 mi) southeast of Amherst) in the Northumberland Shore region provides an excellent supervised beach (July and August) with warm water.  Heather Beach is a popular location on weekends! The park has a small parking. Group use is available.
