Richard d'Entremont of West Pubnico, 1948-1998, was a world-class carver of wooden duck decoys. Being an avid hunter, especially of ducks Richard took on the challenge of carving his own decoys. His carvings had become pieces of art, complete in finite detail and coloring. A highlight of his career came in 1995, when one of his carvings was part of the collection of Nova Scotia art assembled to enhance the suites and conference rooms of the G-7 leaders during the 21st annual G-7 Economic Summit in Halifax. And as recently as 2003/2004, his carvings were exhibited alongside other Acadian artists for “Reflets artistiques de l’histoire acadienne” at the Lieutenant Governor’s residence in Halifax. The wooden duck decoys display showcases the talents of Richard d'Entremont along with a video of describing his talents will be in display from May to the end of October. The display counts 30 carvings at the West Pubnico Musée acadien.
