Cape Forchu Lightstation, home to the first “applecore” style lighthouse, is 11 km (7 mi) from the town of Yarmouth on the Cape Forchu Scenic Drive in the Yarmouth & Acadian Shores region. Along this scenic route to the Lightstation you will pass the Fisherman’s Monument, working fishing villages and beautiful sandy beaches.
Visit the Lightkeeper’s House, a municipal/provincial Heritage Property and home to the interpretive and information centre where you can explore the history of the Light, Cape Forchu and its people. Guided tours are also available.
Enjoy lunch at the The Mug Up Tea Room which overlooks Yarmouth Harbour and the Atlantic Ocean, also located in the Lightkeeper’s House. Our 19 acres of well-groomed grounds provide a great place to have a picnic and to stroll along the scenic walkway.
Cape Forchu has two unique gift shops on site where you will find one of a kind items crafted by local artists. Wireless Internet access is available. Bus tours are welcome.
