Join us for a week of art themed exhibits and activities in the Gardens, with a natural emphasis on art in the garden and botanical art. Annapolis Royal is home to an amazing arts community. In late August, the local Arts Council host a large scale event called “Paint the Town”, where artists from all over Nova Scotia, and as far away as the US, come to Annapolis Royal and paint in various locations, including the Historic Gardens.
As well, the Historic Gardens have, for several years, featured a season long exhibit of Garden Sculpture. The pieces, by sculptors from all over Nova Scotia, are selected from artist submissions each year, and thus vary each season. In 2012, the Historic Gardens featured 15 different sculptures!
The Historic Gardens hosts an annual Photo Contest and Exhibit inviting photographers to submit photos of the Historic Gardens in various competitive categories for judging. This year, an expanded contest will include photos on other aspects of the community as well. Add to that the fact that garden design in itself is an art form, and there is EVERY reason to visit the Historic Gardens as we host A Celebration of Art. The week will have a number of events and activities - stay tuned for further details.
