The Art Gallery of Nova Scotia is the largest art museum in Atlantic Canada. With locations in downtown Halifax and Yarmouth, the Gallery is home to the Province’s art collection and offers a wide range of exhibitions and programming. 

Housed in two renovated heritage buildings the Art Gallery of Nova Scotia displays historic and contemporary Nova Scotian, national and international paintings, sculptures, drawings, prints, photographs, ceramics and other works from temporary exhibitions and the Gallery’s Permanent Collection. The Gallery also boasts an acclaimed collection of folk art including the Maud Lewis House. 

In order to fulfill the Art Gallery of Nova Scotia’s mission to bring art and people together there is also a vibrant education program to benefit school children, students, community organizations and the general public. Public lectures and classes are held throughout the year. 

The Art Gallery of Nova Scotia provides a fascinating and enlightening day out. Its permanent collection and slate of programs tell the story of Canadian art from a Nova Scotian perspective.

On site amenities include the Gallery Shop; the Art Sales & Rental Gallery and a restaurant (Untitled Eats). Bus tours are welcome.

Winter Hours:
October - Daily Mon-Tuesday 10am-5pm; Wed-Friday 10am-9pm; Sat 10am-5pm and Sun 12noon-5pm
November-April - Daily Wed-Friday 10am-9pm; Sat 10am-5pm and Sun 12noon-5pm; Closed Monday & Tuesday (except for pre-arranged group and school tours)

BMO Free Access Thursdays Nights are 5-9pm.
