Nova Scotia Weather

What is the weather like in Nova Scotia?

In a word – moderate. It rarely gets extremely hot or extremely cold. The daily temperature does fluctuate both by time of day and by your proximity to the ocean. So if you spend the morning Wolfville and end up in Yarmouth for the evening – the weather and temperature can be quite different. Having a fleece or sweater at hand for easy layering will keep you comfortable wherever you are.

Spring: March 20 - June 20.
Expect mild daily temperatures in the 10 to 15 degrees Celsius range (50 to 60 degrees Fahrenheit).

Summer: June 21 - September 21.
Daily temperatures are in the 20 to 25 degrees Celsius range (70 to 80 degrees Fahrenheit).

Fall: September 22 – December 20.
Plan on temperatures averaging in the 10 to 15 degrees Celsius range (50 to 60 degrees Fahrenheit) in October and early November and the 0 to 10 degrees Celsius range (30 to 50 degrees Fahrenheit) in late November and December.

Winter: December 21 - March 19.
Average temperatures ranging from -1 to -15 degrees Celsius (0 to 30 degrees Fahrenheit) can be anticipated.

Weather forecasts and reports in Nova Scotia are given in Celsius measurements. For approximate temperature conversion, use this easy calculation:

  • Fahrenheit to Celsius : subtract 30 and divide by 2.
  • Celsius to Fahrenheit : multiply by 2 and add 30.
