Property Description Legend

All properties listed here have been licensed by the Province of Nova Scotia and approved by at least one of the three recognized quality programs (Canada Select/Camping Select, Nova Scotia Approved and CAA/AAA) to ensure they are clean and comfortable. There are numerous types of accommodations available in Nova Scotia for you to choose from.

Bed & Breakfast (B&B)
Usually up to 4 rental units available in a private home, ensuite, private or shared bathrooms, common living room; full or continental breakfast included in room rate.

Bed and Breakfast Inn
Usually more than 4 rental units available with ensuite, private or shared bathrooms, common living room; breakfast may be included in the room rate.

Cabin
Free-standing rental unit with bedsitting room and bathroom; may have kitchen facilities.

Cottage
Free-standing rental unit with one or more bedrooms, a bathroom, separate kitchen and/or living room.

Country Inn
Usually a property with heritage or historic characteristics providing rental units with ensuite or private bathrooms, guest living room, dining room serving breakfast and full evening meals.

Hotel
Provides internal access to rental units; ensuite bathrooms, food service facilities, meeting and conference rooms.

Motel
Provides rental units, ensuite bathrooms, external access to each unit.

Resort
Provides rental units (may include cottages), with private and/or ensuite bathrooms, food service and extensive on-site recreational facilities; may offer conference facilities.

Tourist /Guest /Vacation Home
Usually up to 5 bedrooms available in a rental unit, ensuite, private or shared bathrooms, common living room; breakfast may be available.


Campgrounds
Nova Scotia is a camper’s haven, offering everything from tent-and trailer villages to wilderness campsites accessible only by canoe. Campsites are available in national parks, provincial parks, and privately operated campgrounds. All private and municipally owned campgrounds listed here are licensed by the Department of Economic and Rural Development and Tourism.

We ask you not to camp or park your camping vehicle overnight in any area that is not a designated campground (e.g. parking lots, shopping malls and beach areas). Also, please respect our environment by disposing your waste at established dumping stations.
