The Birches at Ben Eoin Country Inn is located along the Bras d’Or Lakes Scenic Drive in the Cape Breton Island region of Nova Scotia. The Inn overlooks the Bras d’Or Lakes and lies in the shadow of Ben Eoin, meaning Jonathan’s Mountain or Hill. We are a Colonial-style facility situated on ten acres of land immediately adjacent to The Lakes Golf Course and Ski Ben Eoin, so our guests are surrounded by nature’s beauty in all seasons. A short walk or a long hike can be safely undertaken without leaving the vicinity of the Inn. 

We are only 20 minutes from Sydney, less than 10 minutes from Rita’s Tea Room, and five minutes from a sandy public beach on the Bras d’Or Lakes. The historic Fortress of Louisbourg is about an hour’s drive from Ben Eoin, the Alexander Graham Bell Museum is just beyond, and the Newfoundland Ferry dock at North Sydney can be reached by car in 30 minutes. From the Inn, a trip to Sydney Airport will take about 45 minutes. The Birches at Ben Eoin Country Inn is the perfect place for weddings and romantic getaways. Our unique rural setting within minutes of Sydney lends itself perfectly to corporate retreats. 

Our accommodations include 10 luxurious rooms and two suites (King-sized bed, Queen-sized bed, Twin Double beds) with ensuite 4-piece bath (some with air-jet tub). Our grand foyer welcomes guests with its spacious, two-storey open design, grand staircase, fireplace and comfortable seating. The dining room is located just off the foyer and is open to the public and Inn guests. Each room has a 42-inch colour television with satellite system and we have a DVD player available. We have included an iron, ironing board, and hair dryer in all rooms and most rooms have bathrobes. All rooms have direct access to our balcony which surrounds the building on both levels. Continental breakfast is included and served from 7:30 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. New to the Inn is our year-round outdoor hot tub which can seat six in comfort. No pets, please.
