The chefs in Halifax are forerunners when it comes to using locally grown ingredients. I’m always at the Halifax Seaport Farmers’ Market finding the perfect ingredients to pair with our local wines. And if you talk to the vendors, you’ll find they’re more than happy to help you out with great ideas. When I’m not working, I like to take people to Shubie Park and Lake Banook, on a ferry ride across the harbour and for a stroll along the waterfront. It’s a very walkable city, and if you get lost it won’t be long before someone friendly points you in the right direction.

Founded in 1749, history, sea-faring culture and urban adventure come together in Halifax, our vibrant capital by the sea. A walk along the historic waterfront reveals everything from tall ships and museums to harbour cruises and the eclectically entertaining Busker Festival. Venture through our downtown where you’ll find 17th and 18th century architecture, art galleries, museums, theatres, and the most pubs per capita in all of North America. There’s a pub on every corner waiting for you.

Tour the Halifax Citadel National Historic Site of Canada and take in the Royal Nova Scotia International Tattoo for a glimpse into our port’s military influence. Feast at culinary hot spots and award winning restaurants dedicated to seasonal, locally found seafood and produce and Nova Scotia wines. Shop at our boutiques and then rest your feet in a local pub. Enjoy live music and perhaps a microbrew.
