Nova Scotia has a wealth of provincial parks. Some are small picnic areas, and others are large parks with a variety of facilities. Port Maitland Beach in the Yarmouth and Acadian Shores region offers a 1-km sand and cobble beach backed by a grassy picnic area and dunes. The park has supervised swimming in the summer months of July and August. The nearby wharf and fishing boats are favourite subjects for painters and photographers. Park amenities include change houses and vault toilets.
