Open year-round, the Shelburne County Museum houses an impressive collection of artifacts spanning more than two centuries of settlement in Shelburne County. Displays of Mi'kmaq, Loyalist, Aftrican and Welsh heritage are included, along with a Newsham Fire Pumper dating from 1740, believed to be the oldest in Canada. Memorabilia relating to Shelburne's rich ship-building history provide reminders of this glorious past. The Museum's resource centre includes microfilms of 18th and 20th-century Shelburne newspapers, private papers and Court of Session records and files containing information on the genealogy of Shelburne County families.
