Archives, père Clarence d'Entremont (Les)Musée des Acadiens des Pubnicos et Centre de recherche
Acadian homestead c. 1864 furnished with antiques and artifacts depicting post expulsion Acadian history and culture. This Acadian home was acquired by the Société in 1977. The building is furnished with items loaned or donated by residents and former residents of the area. In addition to household items, toy exhibit, fishing and farming, religious objects, chapel, school & books, pictures and maps, Acadian history featuring copies of the original land grants dating 1770, 1771 and 1784.

The annex houses extensive Acadian archives, a display of over 300 cameras spanning one hundred years of photographic history, authentic “aboiteau”, original printing press and other exhibits. Various programs and events organized throughout the summer such as quilting bees, rug braiding, various exhibits and craftspeople demonstrating traditional crafts.

In the courtyard at the rear of the museum, a traditional Acadian garden features a showcase of herbs, vegetables, flowers and trees as planted by the first Acadians in their new environment.

The mandate is to support the three functions of the research centre: educate, preserve and administer. It is also the mission to make great efforts to preserve and promote the Acadian culture. The Research Centre is located in the annex of the Musée des Acadiens des Pubnicos. The centre has acquired a large collection of documents on Acadian history from historian Father Clarence d'Entremont.

The Research Centre houses a collection of genealogical documents on most of the local family names, original land deeds, complete set of local French newspaper, old photographs, diaries and local stories, correspondences, Fond Désiré d'Eon, founder of Nova Scotia's only French newspaper Le Petit Courrier, now Le Courrier de la Nouvelle-Écosse, Fond H. Léander d'Entremont and other smaller fonds. Included in the center are 5,000 books and periodicals in the library and also microfilms. Archives recognized by UNESCO.

Visitors and interested participants can join the Société historique acadienne de Pubnico-Ouest. Membership fee is $10.00 annually. Only members of the Society receive the newsletter.
