The museum is located in the former CN Rail station. Exhibits depict early days of Antigonish town and county. Special exhibits include: photos, business ledgers, railway artifacts, and an 1864 volunteer fire department pumper. The research library and archives contain extensive genealogical information, including the inventory of pre-1914 heritage homes and buildings in town and county.

Genealogical Holdings:

Scope of Holdings
We have an extensive collection of unpublished manuscripts and family trees produced by our visitors. We have a database which includes over 115,000 names linked to Antigonish Pioneers.

Our library includes all the published genealogical materials from Antigonish County. As well, we have resources from Guysborough, Pictou, and Cape Breton Island.

Maps include A F Church; Geological Survey; LRIS Index Sheets; Fire Insurance Maps; Heritage Property Inventory of Older Homes in Town and County; Misc. Records include Voter's Lists 1886; some church records; business
ledgers.

Extent of Holdings
28 feet of School Registers; 22 feet other.

Research Fees
The museum responds to general and genealogical inquiries. Fees for research are by donation for on-site inquiries and starting at $15.00 for mail inquiries.

Duplication Fees
Photocopying services are available at $0.25 per page.

Cemetery Holdings
There are 53 burial grounds/cemeteries in Antigonish
Town and County and we have information on all of these. Major survey of
cemeteries took place in the 1980's. An update on several of these
cemeteries has taken place in the post 2004 period including photographs.
