Cities and Towns

This is where you dance to the music. Roll the dice. Shop ‘til you drop. Let loose your inner art critic. And pamper yourself to a fine polish. From Baccarat tables to impressionist masterpieces to the perfect champagne cocktail, our cities and towns deliver.

There’s a lot of sizzle in our capital city. With more than 250 years of history under her belt and all the action and energy of a bustling cosmopolitan port, Halifax packs a whole lot of holiday punch.

The nightlife here leaves a lasting impression. There are more than 450 Nova Scotia restaurants in Halifax and there are more pubs, clubs and nightlife venues per capita than almost anywhere else in Canada. Add to that a casino, art galleries galore, including the expansive Art Gallery of Nova Scotia – and live theatre and an acclaimed symphony, and what you’ve got is loads of good reasons to pack some party clothes.

Sydney’s no slouch either. As the city centre for beautiful Cape Breton Island and a major cruise ship port, Sydney welcomes enthusiastic visitors from around the world. Perhaps they’re drawn here by the vibrant waterfront, or nearby picturesque golf courses. There’s a bustling casino and sun worshipers will love a day at Dominion Beach Provincial Park or Mira Gut Beach – just a short drive from downtown. Finally, you absolutely do not want to miss the annual Celtic Colours Festival, held across Cape Breton where our rich culture is put on full display.

Shopping and day spa choices cover all the bases in our cities and towns. Find what suits your fashion in cool, eclectic boutiques in groovy little neighbourhoods, unique artisan studios and shops in charming seaside towns or great indoor malls and expansive retail parks with the right-this-minute red hot stores and labels. With more than two dozen spas in the Halifax and countless others throughout the province, you can go for the classic mani-pedi or indulge with the likes of a rosehip body wrap in a setting that ranges from quiet elegance to cool Zen to hip urbane.
