The Wonderful Bay of Fundy

The New7Wonders of Nature campaign calls on citizens all over the world to vote for their favourite natural wonder. After more than two years of nominations and preliminary voting, The Wonderful Bay of Fundy has been selected as one of 28 finalists, and we couldn’t be more proud. Now the push is on to make it into the final seven, and we need your help.

So what makes the Bay of Fundy so wonderful?

Shared by Nova Scotia and New Brunswick, the Bay of Fundy is home to the highest tides in the world – five to ten times higher than anywhere else. Every day more than100 billion tonnes of seawater flow in and out, treating visitors to the surreal experience of walking on the ocean’s floor during low tide.

It’s also home to a rich variety of marine life. As deep ocean water surges into the Bay of Fundy, it creates an ideal environment for great whales, porpoises, dolphins, seals and seabirds. Whale watching tours from Nova Scotia bring visitors face to face with Bay of Fundy’s incredible wildlife.
